I've posted before about Bridgid's. It's hands down the best restaurant in the Art Museum/Fairmount Ave area. Just up the street on 24th from the Bishop's Collar, Bridgid's serves excellent food and a variety of Belgian beer. Andy and I walked there recently for dinner and I fell further in love with Brigid's than I ever thought possible.
I've ordered and enjoyed many things off of their dinner menu, and this visit, I was determined to try something I'd never had before. Now, it's not like I've never had a pork chop, but I've never enjoyed them, and I probably haven't had one since forced to eat one as a child. So even Andy was surprised when I ordered the bacon wrapped pork chop for dinner. One selling point was it's boneless nature, always a plus with me. I'm also a sucker for anything wrapped in bacon. You could wrap a cotton ball in bacon and I'd think about it eating it. This chop, however, was divine. Moist and flavorful from being broiled with the smokey bacon, it was worlds better than any piece of pork I can remember eating in my life. It was served on top of chunky and fresh cinnamon applesauce and alongside whipped sweet potatoes.
Andy had the orange roughy (one of the first fish I loved as a kid) covered in cardinal sauce. I had a bite of the fish, cooked perfectly, it was soft and flaky and the sauce was decadent.
I couldn't help but order dessert, even though my stomach was nearing maximum capacity. I had a few bites of this chocolate fudge cake and took the rest home to nibble on over the next few days.
Andy was also in the mood for something sweet after our entrees and ordered the Italian Rum Cake.
If you haven't been to Bridgid's because you live outside of the neighborhood, it's really worth the trip. If you live in the area and you've still never been, there's no excuse for you. Go tonight.

I am just like you in that I think the last pork chop I ate was also forced on me as a child. But one wrapped in bacon? Now I could handle that.
